City of Toronto - 5 Year Park Plan

As part of the process of developing a five year parks plan, our division recently conducted four public consultation sessions to receive input on Toronto's parks and trails. Much valuable information was received from the general public. However parks staff have indicated that they require more feedback from people with disabilities.

For this reason, we have arranged an excellent opportunity for you to provide your feedback.

What: A disability stakeholder consultation session on Toronto's parks and trails system (please see attached flyer in both PDF and text formats)

When: Thursday January 12, 2012 from 12:30-2:30 PM

Where: North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, Multipurpose Room: 200 Eglinton Ave. West between Avenue Road and Yonge

Why: To gather information on developing and managing a parks system that is accessible, welcoming, meets peoples' diverse needs, engages communities and contributes to a healthy natural environment.

Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation is keenly interested in learning about ways to increase the accessibility of Toronto's parks system and now is the time to provide your input on how to do this.

It is essential that the voice of people with disabilities be heard as we shape the direction of our parks and trails over the next five years. If you care about our parks system and are interested in taking advantage of this chance to make a difference, please RSVP by:

Phoning: 416-396-7349, or by emailing

E-mailing: parksplan@toronto.ca

ASL interpretation, Attendant Services, and material in alternative formats will be provided.

Please let us know at least seven days in advance of the session if you require additional accommodations.
