Active Homes Recruitment Drive: Help Needed!

SCI Action Canada, based at McMaster University, is an ongoing, collaborative endeavour bringing together university-based researchers, knowledge mobilization specialists, support networks, service groups and community members focused on advancing physical activity, knowledge and participation among Canadians living with spinal cord injury.

We are in a very exciting phase of the research aspect of this project. Currently we are recruiting participants for the Active Homes project. We need your help to identify potential participants or potential sources for recruiting participants.

WHAT IS ACTIVE HOMES?

The Active Homes Project will determine the effectiveness of home visit for motivating and teaching people with SCI to become more active. A personal trainer and a physically active, peer support volunteer visit clients’ home and show them how to perform basic strengthening exercises. Participants also receive a personalized home exercise plan.

WHO ARE WE RECRUITING?

We are recruiting clients with paraplegia who are not currently active but are thinking about becoming active. Active Homes currently is available for people living in the Greater Toronto Area.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in participating, please send along the attached poster. Also, we can mail you information pamphlets that you can distribute to anyone you feel may benefit from such a service.

And finally, if have any ideas about where we should look for potential participants, please let us know.
