People with spinal cord injuries cacn expect to live as long as the gneral population, but face several challenges to maintaining optimal levels of health and quality of life.

Although the field of spinal cord injury rehabilitation has made several advaces, we are still only at the beginning of understanding of what it means to live long0term with spinal cord injury.

In addition to contending with secondary health conditions, such as pressure ulcers and urinary tract infections, people with spinal cord injury may experience typical age-related conditions such as heart disease or cancer. However, you might need to use adaptive aids and devices specially designed for SCI. They can make life much easier and reestablish your independence. Join us in this Peer Connection Session where our peer support volunteers will bring their adaptive aids and demonstrate their usage. Information about where to purchase them and how much they might cost will also be given.
