Experiencing stress and some anxiety is a regular part of life and we usually find ways of adjusting. There may be times when it feels like a lot more than that. During those times we might feel easily overwhelmed by some situations and it gets harder to handle or cope with some life or daily events. For many who have experienced a traumatic event, such as a car crash or some other debilitating event, it could be even harder to handle such situations. That trauma may have had a big impact on how we cope and adjust. Understanding the difference between stress and post traumatic stress and recognizing its impact on us becomes very important.

This Information Forum will focus on understanding what post traumatic stress disorder means, the signs of experiencing it and some strategies about coping and adjusting, as related to people who have experienced physical loss as a result from a traumatic event.

This will be of interest to adults who have a spinal cord injury or physical disability, their family members, front line workers, health care practitioners, researchers, rehabilitation specialists, legal professionals, researchers and students.
