I’m A Wild Wheeled Woman!

The sun is a little less strong, the scent of deep-fried-everything-but-the-kitchen-sink-on-a-stick wafts through the air from late-summer fairs and back-to-school commercials are playing on TV.  For me, this is a reminder that CPA Ontario’s Wheelchair Relay Challenge season is set to begin across the province!

On Sunday, September 18th I’ll be leading my team, The Wild Wheeled Women, around the course which this year will be set up in the parking lot of our office building at Lyndhurst Rehab Hospital in Toronto.  I recently returned from a vacation in and around London, England where I “trained” for the event in the extreme conditions of cobbled, slick-from-rain streets, dodging the tourists around palaces, pubs and cathedrals.  My arms still hurt!  Most of the members of the Wild Wheeled Women work out every Sunday in my living room, so the good news is we’ll already have our workout taken care of that day!

My team’s goal is to raise $3,000 for CPA Ontario and we’ll be spreading the word to achieve that goal from now until relay day.  To start or join a team at a CPA Ontario Wheelchair Relay Challenge near you, to volunteer, or to sponsor my and/or any other team, just go to http://www.cpaont.org/wrc and click on the relay page for the region you’re interested in!

Until next time, enjoy the last days of August and think of me pumping up my muscles as you munch on your corn dogs…the cause is more than worthwhile!
